It did, however, open the door for a couple other questions. We see a sedan profile and cutlines for a hatch — does this confirm the new Integra will not be a coupe as previously assumed? Or does it possibly imply Acura will be releasing two versions of the Integra — the coupe, in addition to this new five-door design?
Acura itself seems to dash any hopes for the latter, calling the new Integra a “premium sport compact with a striking five-door design,” but the automaker won’t release any other details until closer to its 2022 debut.
Meanwhile, outlets like Motor Authority speculate the new ‘Teg will share its underpinnings with the 2022 Honda Civic.
The surprise announcement of its return took place in California via an extremely cool drone light show . The show revealed what looked to be a coupe-shaped Integra, though apparently those expecting a two-door should prepare to be disappointed.
If Acura is trying to keep gearheads on their toes, it’s working. The slow reveal is great marketing to build up the hype about the iconic car’s re-release.
