America saying bye to Volvo's wagons, but Canada may keep them around
In fact, the V90 estate we've been missing out on here is coming back

For a company once famous for its bulletproof 240DL and related-model station wagons, Volvo sure is thin on that particular body style in North American these days. It’s about to get thinner.
News from south of the border has the gasoline-powered V60 and V90 wagons disappearing from the market at the conclusion of this model year.
The V60 was always available to interested shoppers, though the V90 required something of a secret code and a handshake from the Stonecutters in order to get behind the wheel. While that’s something of an exaggeration, it is true the model was only available via special order on this side of the pond, assuring us the company didn’t want to have any more of things on dealer lots than strictly necessary.

Lifted versions of these two machines, called the Cross Country, are still available thanks to the never-ending thirst of shoppers in this neck of the woods for crossovers and SUVs. Also sticking around? Polestar Engineered plug-in hybrid variants, apparently, meaning all isn’t totally lost for those of us who like station wagons.
In Canada, even the standard V60 wagon the States is losing out on may still see itself on offer here. “At this time there exists no plan to remove these vehicles from the Canadian market for [model year 2022],” Volvo Canada told Driving . “We’re actually reintroducing the V90 Cross Country into the Canadian market.”
The one caveat? The V60 Cross Country range will be “slightly consolidated,” with Canadians losing out on the FWD variant for 2022. “We will focus on the T6 AWD and Recharge Plug-in Hybrid instead,” Volvo’s spokespeople said.

None of this should be a surprise. Volvo is taking great pains to introduce and familiarize everyone with its Recharge lineup of all-electrics, starting with the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge, part of its plan to convert about half its vehicle sales to pure EVs within the next five years. Perhaps confusingly, the Recharge name is also applied to some of its plug-in hybrid models, including the V60 wagon.
The company has expressed a goal of only selling electric cars by 2030. It currently offers the two all-electrics just mentioned, plus five PHEVs and seven gasoline models. For now, the standard-spec V60 station wagon remains on the Canadian build-and-price tool. Get ’em while you can.
