Audi’s been busy; after the recent preview of its Skysphere concept, the German automaker is showcasing its latest autonomous driving marvel as a “private jet for the road” at IAA 2021

The Grandsphere is a 5.35-metre luxury all-electric sedan that takes hands-free driving to new heights with an extended interior meant to mimic that of a first-class flight. The Level 4 automated driving capabilities manages the travel while creating a truly unique experience by removing the distractions of a steering wheel, pedals, and displays while maintaining access to all its digital systems.

As the ultimate companion vehicle, the company highlights the Grandsphere would be able to identify passengers as they approach and enter the vehicle and dynamically adjust the environment within the car to create the most comfortable experience, including climate control, seat adjustments, and private spheres for each individual if desired.

And while the concept is a little farfetched as a whole, Audi claims drivers could see different advancements in technology and design in production vehicles going forward.

Many of the technologies and design features brought together here will be found in future production Audi models within a few years,” Audi said, as reported by electrive.com The Audi Grandsphere Concept illustrates the brand s ambition to become a pacesetter in the automotive upper echelon for technological transformation and completely new, holistic mobility offerings.”

The Grandsphere is powered by the Premium Platform Electric drive system and is optimized for greater distances and faster charges. With an astounding range of 750 kilometres, the Grandsphere is also capable of charging its 120 kWh battery from five to 80 per cent in less than 25 minutes.

IAA Mobility 2021 will take place in Munich, Germany from Sept. 7-12.
