Under the hood of the Bentayga S is the venerable 4.0-litre V8, fitted with two turbochargers. No upgrades were added to the engine, so it makes the same 542 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, which helps with its 0-100 km/h time of just 4.5 seconds, and top speed of 180 miles per hour.
While the engine remains the same, the exterior receives some subtle visual cues to distinguish the S from the regular Bentayga, including unique 22” wheels, larger spoiler, black door mirrors, gloss black side sills and lower bumpers, and black tailpipes.
The real changes happen under the surface, at the suspension level. There’s a new Bentley Dynamic Ride control that uses a 48-volt system to electronically apply up to 959 pound-feet of torque to counteract body roll. Bentley says this is the first of its kind in the industry, and it’s standard on the Bentayga S.
The suspension is also 15 percent stiffer than a standard Bentayga, thanks to increased pressure in the dampers. A new Sport driving mode also enhances the experience with improved steering feel and a more responsive throttle, while a free-flow exhaust and torque vectoring round out the upgrades.
