Rumours are the new version of the hot wagon will see Competition-spec numbers, and with those boasting 503 horses, this could be the most powerful M3 Touring model ever built.
How do we know this? Fuel consumption figures.
See, the post says the M3 Touring will wring 10.3 L/100 km out of its mystery mill , emphasizing practicality. The M3 Competition xDrive runs slightly lower at 10.1 L/100 km, leading us to believe the wagon’s higher consumption will be a result of higher power levels.
What’s interesting is that the 0.2-L/100-km difference matches the one seen in the sedan versus touring variants of the M340i xDrive, as noted by drive.com.au .
While not confirmed, chances are the M3 Touring will employ BMW’s oft-utilized eight-speed automatic AWD setup.

The Audi RS4 Avant and Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 Estate drive direct competition to this estate, and if all this speculation turns out to be true, the M3 Touring would be the most powerful of the trio.
Additionally the post says “Same big power, exciting new shape,” which suggests it’s a safe bet that BMW will use the 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six-cylinder commonplace in its Competition trims.
With no official release date and no scheduled plans for North American availability, though, Canadian M3 Touring enthusiasts will have to admire this one from afar.
