Acura is resurrecting the Integra nameplate, shifting gears slightly from its recent coupe form back to a more market-friendly five-door hatchback setup for the newest generation.

But one enthusiast-favourite feature will remain intact, despite the simplified needs of the masses: an optional six-speed manual transmission.

The Japanese automaker released a teaser video titled “Generational Shift,” featuring each of the Integra generations’ manual transmissions cut together in one first-to-fifth-gear acceleration clip, concluding with the upcoming 2023 model’s sleek stick shift.

Announced during the Monterey Car Week in August, the Integra remains cloaked in a blanket of secrecy, with few details escaping out from under its edges, other than its five-door configuration (which hearkens back to the original model, also a hatch); a shot of a headlight; and now the manual-option video.

A spy shot of a camouflaged model that was posted on an Integra forum recently reveals what is possibly the best look of the car yet, though — reactions include more than a few comparisons to the Honda Civic.

Acura promises more details will arrive closer to the Integra’s 2022 introduction.
