Ca va pa! Confusing parking signage causes congestion on Quebec City street
There’s no parking allowed at any time on Saint-Augustin Avenue, so why is this sign still hanging?

Emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances in Quebec City are having difficulty accessing a few specific areas due to illegally parked vehicles. But motorists and locals are claiming the fault lies not with those behind the wheels, but rather with the city, which has failed to provide clear parking instructions for drivers.

The area in question is the recently restored Saint-Augustin Avenue in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste neighbourhood of Quebec City, where no parking is permitted on the street at any time. Problematically, the street used to allow parking by permit, and when the rules were changed, the correct “no parking” signage was not erected.
And so, now there are cars in the way when it matters.
“This is dangerous,” Jean-François Tribunier, a 40-year local to the area, told Vaughan Today , adding that he has called the city many times over the issue. “All they do is send the police. They issue serial tickets and that’s it.”
Further confusing matters are some old signs that still remain in view, like the one pictured above that lists specific no-parking hours “when lights flashing,” even though the street is a full-time no-parking zone.
The fix seems simple, right? Just take down the old notices confusing motorists and put up some easy-to-see no-parking signs. The government does have the capability to do and undo bolts, doesn’t it?
