Jil McIntosh earned three awards for her writing, including one in the category of Vehicle Testing for this excellent review of the 2019 Infiniti Q60 I-Line Red Sport .

She also took honours for skills in Automotive Technical Topics thanks to the expert crafting of this article about the finer points of regenerative braking , a topic with which EV owners should be intimately familiar in order to maximize battery range. (In other words, if you have an electric car, read Jil’s article immediately. If you’ve already done so, go back and read it again.)

Also joining her trophy case this year is an award for Feature Writing.

Justin Pritchard was presented with the Road Safety Journalism Award for his efforts on a story in which he profiled affordable vehicles that features powerful LED lighting technology . Given that many of us suffer through nighttime driving in rigs whose headlamps heave off approximately the same amount of illumination as a couple of fireflies in dusty jam jars, Justin’s story is quite helpful.

Headlights

Brian Harper made it a one-two podium finish for Driving.ca contributors in the Vehicle Testing category, taking home hardware for this review of the 2020 Lexus RX 350 . Our own Stephanie Wallcraft landed the Julie Wilkinson Motorsport Journalism Award presented by Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. And Derek McNaughton, whose name also appears on this site, was recognized for his photography skills.

The big honour, AJAC Journalist of the Year presented by Jaguar Land Rover Canada, went to Sami Haj-Assaad, a journalist whose award-winning work can be found across the web and in print. The runner-up this year is William Clavey. The award has been presented by JLR Canada for the past 37 years. This time around, the event was held online thanks to the global pandemic.

The crew at Driving.ca heartily congratulates all this year’s winners. Be sure to check out the entire roster of talent .
