Calls about an erratic driver on Pembina Highway in the neighbourhood of Fort Richmond began coming in around 10 P.M. on Sept 19, but things escalated quickly. Police were contacted by another motorist who described the same female driver tailgating him, flashing the car’s lights, passing and brake checking him, and then ramming his vehicle multiple times, even following him into a parking lot to continue the destruction.
Eventually the woman lost control of her vehicle and the victim was able to escape. At some point before or after this, she also allegedly found time to maneuver the vehicle into a light post and through a fenced yard.
Police used a helicopter to track the accused to a fast food drive-thru on Sage Creek Boulevard, and sent in cruisers to stop and arrest her. It’s unknown if any victims or the perpetrator were injured.
Coincidentally, this is the second incident of violent driving reported in the Canadian prairies this week. On Monday, Manitoba RCMP had to give chase to a Quebec driver who was terrorizing fellow motorists on Highway 1 near Portage, running one vehicle off the road before crashing his own pickup.
