Ford recalls certain 2021 F-150 trucks for possible faulty seatbelts
It affects only the SuperCab, not the regular or crew-cab models

Ford is recalling 3,331 copies of the 2021 F-150 in Canada, along with 16,430 trucks in the U.S., for seatbelts that may not work properly when needed. Note that it only affects certain SuperCab trucks, which have small rear-hinged back doors, and not the far-more-popular, four-door SuperCrew models, or the two-door Regular Cab.

According to the recall, the front seatbelts might not have been properly routed through their anchor eyelets, and as a result, they “may not work as designed in a crash.”
Ford is mailing notices to owners of affected trucks, with instructions on how to inspect the front driver and passenger seatbelts. According to Transport Canada , Ford then advises the following, depending on the results:
- If the seat belts pass the inspection, you should schedule an appointment and take your truck to a dealer to inspect and replace the seat belt retractor and pretensioner assemblies, as necessary.
- If the driver’s seat belt does not pass the self-inspection, or you are uncertain of the results of your inspection, you should not drive your truck and contact your dealer to make arrangements to have it towed for an inspection.
- If the front passenger’s seat belt does not pass the self-inspection, do not use that seat until the seat belt has been inspected by a dealer.
To see if your truck is affected, you can call Ford Canada’s customer service department at 1-800-565-3673. You’ll need your 17-digit vehicle information number (VIN), which is on your ownership, or visible on your truck’s dash through the driver’s side of the windshield.
You can also check online at Transport Canada, using your VIN. Transport Canada’s number for the recall is 2021-526, while Ford’s manufacturer number for the recall is 21C20.
