GMC has unveiled a new concept truck, the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX, which it says shows how the truck’s off-road capability “could be customized for an overlanding enthusiast.”
The company introduced the AT4 off-road-ready trim line on the full-size Sierra pickup in 2019, and has since expanded it across all GMC trucks and SUVs.
The Canyon concept was shown at Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland, Colorado, which brings outdoor enthusiasts together for a weekend of camping, demonstrations and classes, and an exhibitors’ trade show.

The dictionary-deficient OVRLANDX includes a factory lift kit, wide off-road chassis, off-road rocker panel protectors, cast iron control arms, integrated recovery points, heavy-duty front bumper with winch, electronic front and rear locking differentials, wheel flares with integrated lamps, Multimatic DSSV dampers, guy lines for windshield protection from overhead branches, and a swivel-mounted spare tire that can be moved as needed to access the tailgate.
The truck is equipped with a stock 3.6L V6 and eight-speed transmission, and wears 17-inch AEV Crestone wheels with 33-inch BF Goodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires. It has a 27.7-degree approach angle, and ground clearance of 254 mm (10 inches).
Other add-ons include a stainless steel bed cap, tent with awning, jerry cans for gasoline and water, traction boards, cooler, kitchenette, AVE rear bumper, drawer-style bed storage system, and a solar panel.
“We wanted to showcase GMC Canyon with this concept, and punctuate GMC’s commitment to premium, off-road-capable vehicles,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice-president of Buick and GMC. “Consumer reaction to this concept’s design will help us further serve the growing market of buyers leading authentic outdoor lifestyles.”
