“The driver got out really quickly with something in his hand, and he ran between the cars to a commercial cube truck in the far lane,” Tara Matheson, a woman who was in the area when one of the incidents allegedly happened, told CTV . “I was already past the scene when I heard a smash, so I didn’t see exactly what occurred.”
Then, on Thursday morning police were notified of another axe-based attack in a parking lot in nearby Courtenay. When they arrived they found the man in a Civic matching the description and arrested him. He is also believed to be the same individual who threw eggs at employees in a Telus store last week.
Comox RCMP say the man is being held until his court appearance.
If it feels like road rage has been all the rage lately, it’s because it kind of is. According to a report earlier this year, road rage in Canada is escalating. Just a few weeks ago, also on Vancouver Island, a truck driver rammed police cruisers in order to avoid a routine traffic stop.
