2021 Genesis G80 earns Top Safety Pick+ honours

It’s the most significant safety accolade from the IIHS, and all of Genesis’ current models have earned it

The Korean-made sedan – which was already a compelling package thanks to a thoughtful interior, plenty of power and class , and competitive pricing – joins the rest of the current Genesis fleet on the Top Safety Pick+ podium, marking a full brand sweep.
To qualify for the award, vehicles must earn the top “good” markers in six crash tests, have some sort of front crash-prevention system with “advanced or superior” ratings in car-on-car and car-on-pedestrian situations, and have “good or acceptable” headlights as standard on all trims.
The 2021 G80 ticks all those boxes with the top-rated “good” in the crashworthiness tests, “superior” in the crash-prevention category, and “acceptable” for headlights. According to the IIHS, however, “some of the earliest G80s sold require an adjustment to the headlights to qualify for the award.”
Genesis has sent letters to the owners of these early-model-year cars and offered to cover the cost of the adjustment at dealerships.
In addition to the sedan’s 10 standard airbags, the G80 is fitted with safety tech and radars to enable features like lane keep assist, blind-spot collision warning, forward collision avoidance-assist with pedestrian detection, and more.
