Watch: Man shields his beloved Supra from hail storm with his body

There are heroes, and then there's this guy

It’s been said that actions speak louder than words. Well, this Toyota Supra owner demonstrated that — better than most — when he sprawled over the hood of his beloved car in a brave but foolhardy attempt to shield it from a hail storm. The incident, which happened in Sydney, Australia, was captured on video and uploaded on TikTok.

It seemed the storm caught the man by surprise, and after covering parts of the car with some cardboard pieces and a blanket, there was still a significant area around the front left unprotected. The clip is only a few seconds long, but you can see the guy bent over the hood of the vehicle, arms spread wide. Occasionally, he can be seen swatting at the falling hail, and towards the end of the clip, he shifted positions around the front end to offer more protection.
While we do not endorse his action — he could have been seriously injured — the gearhead in all of us can certainly understand what drove him to such extremes. That is no ordinary car. It is a fourth-generation Supra, a cult car made famous by its portrayal in the Fast & Furious movie franchise. Today, the car remains highly sought after in the secondary market because of its status, performance, reliability, and high tuner potential.
Now, maybe you can understand why the man was willing to take a beating to protect the car. The TikTok video cuts off with the man still spread over the car’s front. As much as we would have loved this story to have a happy ending, the Supra emerging unscathed from the incident is highly doubtful. We can only hope the man can find an excellent body repair shop.
