The BMW driver tried to justify doing 113 km/h in a 50 km/h zone because the car was wet from the wash
How important is it to dry a car after it’s been washed? One Vancouver motorist was willing to go to great lengths to ensure their car was good and dry after it had been cleaned, putting the public, their licence, and the vehicle itself at risk in the act.
Their chosen method of drying was to drive the car at a high speed, which in and of itself is totally fine — so long as you’re on a highway and not, say, doing 113 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

That, as the aforementioned B.C. driver would discover, is cause for an excessive speeding fine of $483 and 7-day vehicle impound, regardless of how wet your car was.
A Vancouver police officer took to Twitter on Oct. 8 to share his “excuse of the week,” along with an image of the silver BMW 3-Series that he or another member of his squad pulled over for doing over double the speed limit on a residential street. The photo shows the laser reading “113” km/h.

If anything, the excuse suggests that excessive speeding in the name of a drier car is something they do regularly. ‘Oh this? I do this every other week. It’s Wash Wednesday, don’t ya know?’
Then there’s the fact that it rains every day in Vancouver at this time of year. Good luck keeping the car dry, then.
