Electric vehicle shows are a go in Montreal and Quebec later this year
Organizers expect they will be the first large-scale vehicle shows to open after COVID cancellations
Fans of electric vehicles will once again have a chance to plug into their passion, as the Montreal and Quebec Electric Vehicle Shows have announced new dates in September and October for their 2021 events.
The two shows were originally planned for April and May of 2021, but were postponed due to COVID-19. The 2020 versions of the show were also cancelled.
Barring any further restrictions, the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (MEVS) will be held on September 17-19, 2021 at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium. The Quebec Electric Vehicle Show (QEVS) will run October 1-3, 2021 at the Centre de foires de Québec in Quebec City. Both will be indoor events.
Luc Saumure, director of administration and marketing for the shows, said in a statement that he expects gatherings of more than 250 people will be permitted by that time, due to sufficient numbers of people being vaccinated. “The MEVS and QEVS will therefore become the first large interior public exhibitions to open their doors to the general public.”
The show will be held in accordance with whatever government health restrictions will be in place at the time.
Quebec offers a provincial rebate of up to $8,000 for those who buy an EV, the most generous of the “green” rebates also available in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Yukon, and from the federal government.
