Guitars and cars have been intrinsically connected for decades. Now Jeep is getting in on the act, teaming up with guitar manufacturer Wallace Detroit Guitars to create a limited edition Jeep-themed electric guitar. Like all instruments from WDG, the body of the Wallace Detroit Deluxe Jeep Guitar is made of reclaimed wood from historic Detroit buildings. In this instance, the wood comes from the legendary Packard Plant.

It’s a finely crafted Fender Telecaster-style guitar with traditional bridge, maple neck, and two humbucking pickups — with the neck pickup featuring the iconic Jeep seven-bar grill graphic. Continuing the rugged theme is the Jeep “Army Star” logo applied with a branding iron. The back of the guitar features an engraved and hand-painted Jeep brand logo and Detroit topographical map.

“Detroit is full of people who know how to make things. People love the history of Jeep and the brand has always been known for customization and details, so it was extremely fun from a creative side to bring some of those historic elements into this guitar,” said Mark Wallace of Wallace Detroit Guitars.

Rock group Detroit Dreamers is also part of Jeep’s new Detroit musical initiative, creating a track entitled “Dreamers” on which they wield this special guitar.

If you’re dying to get your mitts on one of these uber-cool six-string electrics, Wallace Detroit Guitars is taking orders now. Cost is US$2,900 and the build takes about 90 days. If yours has some extra scars, nail holes, or historic stains, consider yourself lucky.
