Luxury EV automaker Lucid opens its first Canadian location

Its Lucid Air sedan will start at $105,000, with deliveries expected later this year

Luxury electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid has announced its first Canadian retail outlet and pricing, which will start at $105,000. Buyers can reserve any Lucid Air model for a deposit of $400.

The Lucid Studio will open on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at CF Pacific Centre in Vancouver, B.C. It’s the company’s tenth store and its first outside of the U.S. The automaker said it will open another store in Toronto in 2022, and other Canadian locations will follow.

The Lucid Air sedan comes in four levels, with varying power and range. The Pure, at $105,000, has 480 horsepower and a projected range of 653 kilometres. The Touring, at $129,000, offers 620 hp.

The Grand Touring, at $189,000, has 800 hp and 830 km of range. The two top levels are each $229,000: The Dream Edition Range with 933 hp and 836 km, and the Dream Edition Performance at 1,111 hp and 758 km of range.

“Announcing Canadian pricing and our first retail location in the country in tandem is critical in bringing the Lucid brand to Canada,” said Zak Edson, senior director of sales and service. “This opening is the first of many announcements for locations outside of the U.S. market as we continue our rapid global expansion.”

Customers can visit the studio in person or online, where they can use a virtual reality experience to personalize the car’s options and finishes, and interact with a company representative.

Lucid is based in California, while the cars are built at its factory in Casa Grande, Arizona. The company plans to deliver its first cars to customers in the U.S. in late October, with Canadian deliveries following “shortly after,” the company said.
