Acura calls its new 2022 MDX “the most premium, performance-focused and technologically sophisticated SUV” in its 35-year history. The brand flagship features a new light-truck platform with a double-wishbone front suspension and all-new multilink rear suspension for more precise road holding. The mid-sized, three-row SUV comes with 3.5L direct-injected V6 engine rated at 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, paired with Acura's 10-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift and standard paddle shifters. Later in the year it will be joined by MDX Type S, Acura’s first SUV to ever wear the Type S badge and powered by the same 355-hp turbo 3.0L V6 as in the TLX Type S sedan. Standard rear-biased Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) uses Acura's industry- torque-vectoring all-wheel drive technology, now with 40 per cent more rear torque capacity and 30 per cent quicker front-to-rear torque transfer than the third-generation system in the previous MDX. The 2022 MDX also benefits from the latest generation of Acura's intuitive and driver-focused True Touchpad Interface, featuring an ultra-wide 12.3-inch, full-HD display. The TTI features intuitive controls, including physical power, volume and seek controls positioned within easy reach to the immediate right of the touchpad, along with more accurate swipe zones and handwriting recognition.
