After five bumpy years, the Micro Mobility Company’s Microlino 2.0 may finally be ready for production.
Having recently moved through the hurdles of regulatory approvals in Europe, the all-electric Microlino 2.0 is expected to reach assembly lines in the company’s production facility in Italy before the end of 2021.
Since its initial reveal as the Microlino bubble car in 2016, the all-electric amalgamation of a motorbike and car has had its fair share of ups and downs to get to this point.
The original model nearly missed its debut at the 2016 Geneva auto show due to damage caused by a forklift incident, and a former company partner attempted to sell a knock-off not long after. The vehicle managed to accumulate thousands of pre-orders, however there were no significant moves toward production at the time.

As the company continued to evolve the vehicle into the Microlino 2.0, the 2020 Geneva auto show became the next target for a reintroduction. But, as was the fortune of the adorable EV, the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fast-forward a year, and the Microlino 2.0 is finally ready to hit the market.
The two-seater features a modest 17-horsepower electric engine, with 87 pound-feet of torque that can push the little guy up to a max of 90 km/h. There are three battery options: a 6-kWh cell with a 95-kilometre range; a 10.5-kWh unit extending that to a 175-kilometre range; and a 14-kWh variant that will deliver the highest 230-kilometre range.
The Microlino 2.0 will come in three trims – Urban, Dolce, and Competizione – with the Urban setting the price benchmark at 12,000 euros (CDN$17,946).
Deliveries are expected first in Switzerland, and then Germany, before reaching the rest of Europe.
