2022 Polestar 2 offers lower price, longer rage
Polestar has announced the Polestar 2 will arrive later this fall with a single-motor powertrain configuration, a new heat pump appropriate for Canadian winters, and a lower financial entry point. The single-motor variation will be more affordable in all markets, fetching $49,900 in Ontario, $41,900 in Quebec, and $46,900 in B.C., compared to the dual-motor unit’s prices of $56,900 in Ontario, $48,900 in Quebec, and $53,900 in B.C. Range also improves with the new model: 426 km vs the dual-motor’s 400 km. Look out for our upcoming review of the 2022 Polestar 2.

A man from Greenville, North Carolina has drawn plenty of attention to his for-sale 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, but not in a way that’s likely to help sell it. On the day before it was to be given to a new owner, Spencer Everette took the car out for “one last hurrah.” He “gunned it” and ended up losing control on the road, ultimately parking the car on its side in the ditch, hazards flashing . It made for some great visuals, none of which are appropriate for the Craigslist ad. Everett was uninjured but charged with reckless driving.

The University of British Columbia’s infamous steps near Brock Hall have claimed another victim. Poor little pony. A bystander snapped some photos of two men — hopefully not physics majors — puzzling over a Ford Mustang trapped on the five-step set. Sadly (and amusingly), it’s not the first vehicle to find itself paralyzed on this particular concrete flight: it has also managed to lure in and probably damage a Mercedes-Benz, a VW, and even a taxi. We’ve got two words for you, UBC: concrete block.
YouTube creek jumper charged and fined US$53,000
A YouTuber who jumped a creek in a then-new Ram TRX pickup truck, and ripped up the ecosystem around it in doing so, will be facing criminal repercussions for the stunt. The fact that he also damaged the truck extensively, and later took to it with a hammer for some reason, probably indicates just how bad this guy’s life decisions are. Pennsylvania authorities have hit Michael Hyssong (Street Speed 717 on Youtube) with 18 charges of environmental damage and fines totalling US$53,000 (CDN$67,000).

Ford Germany’s brilliant Very Gay Raptor is a clapback to an Internet troll

This is the Very Gay Raptor. We did not name this “Very Gay Raptor,” though surely we would have because that’s clearly what it is. The bedazzled and rainbow-wrapped pickup was actually put together by Ford Germany after an online commenter said one of the new Ranger Raptor’s blue paint options looked “very gay.” The one-off Raptor made an appearance in the 2021 Pride parade in Cologne alongside a similarly wrapped 1998 Ford Ka, which is a nod to the first Pride parade in 1998. People have been spotting the flamboyantly finished pickup on streets and the resulting social media is pretty awesome .
