2022 Toyota Tundra arrives with V6 engine and optional hybrid boost
There’s a lot to learn about the new 2022 Toyota Tundra, and most of it is covered in our in-depth first look , but perhaps the most notable detail is the departure of the V8 engine that has carried the F-150 fighter since the early 2000s. The third-generation Japanese pickup truck ditches the sweetheart V8 for two V6 engines, one using a standard 3.5L twin-turbo making 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, which is more torque than the larger outgoing engine, and the other benefitting from a hybrid system boosting power to 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque.
The Internet gobbled up the truck during the debut and spat out its unedited opinions on Twitter, Reddit, and beyond. Haters hated the gaping grille, ogglers ogled the massive 14-inch centre-mounted touchscreen, and repeat customers repeated praise. Read the rest best of the reactions here .

GM tells Bolt EV owners to park away from others before finding fire fix
Over the last couple months, General Motors has issued a recall for over 140,000 Bolt EVs, following reports of just over a dozen of the cars’ batteries catching fire. The issue actually had the continent’s largest automaker stumped for a hot minute, temporarily shutting down production at the Bolt plant and telling owners to “leave ample space” between other cars and shelters when parked. But earlier this week, GM said it had found the fix and that production would resume . The cost of the recall and production delays — so far — is estimated to be US$1.8 billion.

When the bolt that holds the tire to your backyard wheelbarrow comes off, it’s probably OK to repair it with whatever extra piece of threaded metal you have in the garage. But when the bolts in question are on the vehicle you insure and drive on the road, this becomes very much not OK. Ontario police recently pulled over a distracted driver, but quickly noticed a missing lug nut and bald tires. When they tweeted out the images, another user submitted another image of an even worse offender using not just mismatched bolts, but even a makeshift length of wheel stud. Take a good look and then never do anything like this!
