Most notable are that pre-orders for the all-electric mid-size crossover opened this week, and that Hyundai Canada has confirmed it will be offering the two available batteries — a standard-range 58-kWh pack and a long-range 77.4-kWh pack.
The Ioniq 5 comes standard with rear-wheel-drive, and all-wheel-drive is an option. Two trims will be available, along with an Ultimate package, though no details have yet to be released about what sets Essential and Preferred apart, nor what is part of the Ultimate add-on.
Hyundai has also revealed EPA estimates of battery range across all trims. Previously just the Euro-spec WLTP rating of 470-480 km for the big battery two-wheel drive model had been released. The estimated ranges for the Canadian Ioniq 5 line up are: Essential RWD standard range – 354 km; Preferred RWD standard range – 354 km; Preferred AWD long range w/Ultimate package — 400 km; Preferred AWD long range – 435 km; Preferred RWD long range – 480 km. Power output ranges between 225 and 320 horsepower, and 258 and 446 lbs.-ft of torque.
