Former highway rock scaling contractor Mike Hall got himself his own Rust Valley Restorers TV program – now broadcast around the world – because he was trying to sell more than 400 cars. He had been buying old cars since he was a teenager, and they were scattered over his five-acre property in the tiny hamlet of Tappen, on the Trans-Canada Highway in the centre of British Columbia.

The cars, bundled into one big offer along with the property, didn’t sell, but it brought Hall to the attention of a TV production company, and the series was on. Now, his cars will be sold at a live auction on Saturday, October 2 as part of season four of Rust Valley Restorers .

Alberta-based EG Auctions will handle the one-day auction, which will be live-streamed on the company’s website to what is predicted to be a large international audience. The auction company is gearing up for many people to attend the auction in person.

Although most of the sale will be for project or parts vehicles, bidders will have the opportunity to buy three restorations completed by Mike Hall and his Rust Valley crew on episodes of the show: a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro; a 1955 Chevy two-door station wagon; and a 1970 Chevy K5 Blazer.

All 500 vehicles are being sold with no reserve bid so each one will go to the highest bidder. EG Auctions, also known as The Electric Garage, has 7,000 registered online bidders.

“It is the most challenging auction we have ever planned because the cars are in the Field of Dreams and can’t be moved,” says EG Auctions CEO Todd Schwindt. “It really is taking us out of our comfort zone because the auction team will have to move from car to car. But we know it will draw a lot of interest.”

Rust Valley Restorers Mike Hall and sidekick Avery Shoaf will be at the 14th annual Electric Garage auction in Red Deer on September 11 to promote the upcoming sale of the 500 Field of Dreams collector vehicles. For more information, visit egauctions.com
