First there was this story about a Quebec man allegedly going bonkers in his pickup truck on Hwy 1 near Portage, Manitoba. Then, yesterday we covered the chaos created by another alleged impaired Manitoba driver who also battered an innocent’s vehicle with hers , took out a fence, and then hit the drive-thru for a snack.
And now we’ve caught wind of yet another incident of dangerous and erratic driving, this time involving two stolen vehicles, a handful of battered police vehicles, a damaged house, three tire deflation devices, and an accused thief who tried everything to get away.
It began when police received reports that a Ford Escape had been stolen from a business on the 2600 block of Avenue C North, and used the vehicle’s onboard tracker to locate it nearby. The driver evaded the first spike strip and took police on an erratic chase through the city, passing through a park at one point, and eventually over a second tire deflation device that managed to take out two of the tires.
At this point, the accused 27-year-old local drove back to the business he’d pinched the Ford from and nabbed a second vehicle, a GMC panel van, and took off once more. But he didn’t get far. This time when police deployed the tire deflation device, the driver lost control of the van, crashing it into three police cruisers before settling into the exterior wall of a nearby house.

Was this election madness? Seasonal? There was a full moon recently…
Whatever the reason, it’s wild out there. Stay safe, folks.
