The Bentley Bentayga can now be ordered with 22-inch carbon-fibre wheels
The massive pieces of spinning composite are, in fact, the world's largest production rims made from the stuff

Starting in late 2021, Bentley customers will be able to add carbon-fibre wheels to the already lengthy options list when they spec their Bentayga. The 22-inch wheel, engineered in partnership with renowned specialists Bucci Composites, will be the largest production carbon-fibre wheel in the world.

The wheels were developed by Mulliner, the specialist personal-commission department of Bentley Motors, and took five years to complete. This is not too surprising, considering Bentley’s obsession with detail and perfection.
Opting for carbon-fibre will save six kg per wheel, but the benefits don’t end there. Bentley also pointed out the increased strength and stiffness of the wheels, which should result in a more stable steering platform. In addition, the carbon-fibre wheels improve braking response and help reduce tire wear.
How about safety? Never mind, Bentley has got that covered, too. The carbon-fibre wheel has been subjected to stringent TÜV ( Technischer Überwachungsverei, or Technical Inspection Association) standards, and is the first carbon-fibre wheel ever produced to pass all that group’s safety and performance tests.
As expected, we found no mention of the price tag — because, y’know, people who can afford a Bentayga are hardly going to be worried about the cost of a set of wheels. We mere mortals, though, shudder to think of the bill if you’d happen to smack one against a curb.
