The GV80 comes standard with 10 airbags, and is built on a brand-new platform. The crash tests prove the brand is going in the right direction for vehicle design and safety. The GV80 managed to pass the hardest test with flying colours — the small-overlap crash test.
Almost all tests for the GV80 returned a “Good” rating, the highest. The only place the GV80 lost points was in the headlight department, as it only has one headlight option; the LED units received an “Acceptable” rating. The rear seat LATCH system for child seats also only earned an “Acceptable” rating, but that isn’t weighed as heavily as headlights.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) has yet to test the vehicle, but it’s likely to receive good ratings from them as well, just as other Genesis models have in the past.
Top Safety Pick+ awards have also been given to Genesis’ G80, as well as the smaller G70, and the larger G90.
