There were some sad images posted to Twitter today as the world lost another first-gen Acura NSX. According to social media, this red first-generation NSX was initially reported stolen in San Francisco. The owner, a Bay area photographer, had the car parked in a residential parking garage when it went missing.

Sometime later, a motorist spotted the stolen vehicle being driven by a woman, with a male passenger in the front seat beside her. The driver eyes the camera as she drives the modern classic at highway speeds, cigarette in hand. Another shot of the vehicle’s rear end reveals the same plates and bright green sticker as in the missing car photos. One saving grace? At least it appears to be the left hand of the passenger holding the phone.

And here’s where things get tragic, because the next image of the NSX is from after the the joyride came to a violent halt.

Details on the crash are sparse. The car’s front end is twisted and deformed, and both bumpers have fallen off, possibly following contact with police cruisers.
The windscreen and cabin appear largely intact, so hopefully the passengers weren’t seriously injured. The car, however, looks to be a write-off.
Luckily, its owner seems to be taking it in stride (which is also how he’ll be getting around for the next while), commenting on Instagram, “well time to save up again.”
