On examples from model years 2018 to 2021, the overheated headlights can cause a loss of lighting and could be a fire risk, says the recall.
The problem arises when the high-beams are switched on. Faulty headlight circuits can cause wear on the high-beam headlight. The degraded headlight can either stop working or cause a fire.
Toyota is in the U.S. recommending owners avoid excessive use of high-beams while stationary or driving at low speeds.
The Transport Canada recall notice #2021-544 states that 6,380 are affected, and directs customers to the Toyota & Lexus Canada Recall Lookup to determine if their truck is on the list.
In addition, Toyota will notify owners by mail with instructions for repairs, which could include a modification of the engine wire harness assembly; and replacement of bulb and bulb connectors if damaged.
