Watch: This is the shortest time a car's gone from new buy to write-off
It took the car's owner about nine seconds after first stepping in it to total his Volkswagen Polo

In what surely must be a world record, a new-car purchaser in India rolled over their just-bought Volkswagen Polo before they even got it off the dealership property , seemingly less than 100 feet after first turning new tire on tarmac.

And while one may argue exactly how far said Polo managed to get before ending up on its roof, YouTube time-coding doesn’t lie.
This VeeDub was someone’s new car for exactly nine seconds, the time it took from dealership personnel congratulating the owner ’til the time it bounces off one parked car only to veer into the dealership’s service gate and flip over.

We’re assuming no one got hurt because, well, Polos can’t get up much speed in just nine seconds.
Now, dealership calamities are nothing new – this Porsche 911 GT2 RS was crashed less than a mile from its Welsh dealership on a test drive – but I am confident in saying this has to be the shortest distance a new car has ever been driven before being written off. Well done, that man!
