This week, a woman was seen sitting behind the wheel of her Tesla while fast asleep. In the video, which was captured by a fellow motorist, you can see a young woman with her seat reclined and her head leaning against the headrest. She dozes in and out of sleep, casually catching up on her REM cycles as the car maneuvers itself across the Ironworkers Bridge, a busy bit of roadway that connects North Vancouver to Vancouver proper.

“I looked out the passenger window and noticed what looked like somebody just completely asleep behind the wheel of the Tesla,” the person who filmed the incident told Global News . “From what I saw they were out like a light, but then there was a couple moments where it looked like they almost woke up, then went back to sleep.”

This isn’t the first time a Tesla driver has been caught misusing the autopilot feature. The autonomous driver assistance system is designed to help read the roadway and surroundings and provide assistance by accelerating, braking and keeping within the lines, but drivers are using it as a fully hands-off tool when that’s not what it’s designed for.

Police were able to track down the driver and she was issued a ticket for $368 and also dinged six demerit points, the latter of which is arguably the tougher part of the fine considering she’ll have to face ICBC.
