Inspired by current events and relevant world issues, this year’s theme is “a dream car that makes the world a better place.” Children are encouraged to use global social and environmental challenges to create a car that promotes the necessary changes we need to see around the world.

The artwork must be a drawing or painting, or some other form of non-digital work. Entrants must obtain the entry form online, which must also detail the concept of what the child has drawn, what it does, and why it matters.

This year’s contest launched on September 27, and it’s open to Canadian children aged 15 and under. But don’t worry, your three-year-old’s drawing won’t be going up against a seasoned 15-year-old. There will be nine Canadian finalists, three chosen from each of the three age categories: under eight, eight to 11, and 12 to 15.

The most exciting part: the designs of those nine finalists will be entered into the world contest, hosted by Toyota Motor Corporation, for a chance to win a trip to Japan, and one of three grand prizes valued at US$15,000.

The submission deadline is December 3, at which time applicants will need to upload a digital image of their artwork, as well as snail mail the original artwork.
