What’s old is new in 2022, starting with the classic Toyota sedan, the Corolla. The 2022 Corolla Cross is a subcompact SUV built on the Corolla platform and running on its 169-horsepower four-cylinder engine and CVT. Three trims will be made available off the top – L, LE, and XLE – but Toyota has suggested a hybrid model may follow. One major advantage the Cross has over the current Corolla car is that it comes with available AWD. Pricing will be revealed closer to its launch date this fall.

Halton Police Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Unit officers sensed that there was something fishy about a commercial truck dropping liquid behind, but when they approached, it wasn’t fish they smelled. The truck had been carrying actual sewage waste and was leaking it out the back for any motorist or cyclist behind them to drive through. What’s more, the truck was found to be overweight on its axles, making its presence on the roads even crappier. The tweet doesn’t specify, but it’s highly likely the truck was immediately removed from roads and its operator fined.

Rumour has it that the hiphop power couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé will be adding a very special vehicle to their garage . The recently revealed US$28M Rolls-Royce Boat Tail built by the brand’s new Coachbuilt arm is the most expensive new car in the game right now, with an onboard Champagne chiller and entire picnic setup that rises out of the trunk. Details included in the brand’s media materials drop some pretty convincing clues as to who may be receiving shipment of the gorgeous auto. We know the couple love the colour blue (and have a daughter named Blue Ivy) and love to take Mediterranean beach vacations together (as confirmed numerous times by paparazzi). And with an estimated combined net worth of over $1B, they easily check the “Filthy Stinkin’ Rich” box, too.

Toyota reveals second-gen 86, on sale this fall

The next-gen 2022 Toyota GR 86 is definitely still worth your attention, even if it does still look a fair bit like its “twin from a different VIN” Subaru BR-Z . It’s got more power than its predecessor, having upgraded power plants to a 2.4L four-cylinder from a 2.0L and received adjustments to its air intake, exhaust, and dual-injection systems. Plus it’s lighter. That means an all-round quicker car that will move to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds (down from 7.2 seconds) with the six-speed manual transmission, and 6.8 seconds with the available automatic transmission. Like the Corolla Cross, pricing has yet to be announced—expect more on that front later this summer.

California’s Attorney General has detailed the case against two former California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who stand accused of accepting bribes from gray-market super car owners in exchange for fake registration. The two individuals allegedly took US$35,000 to fudge the papers on a 2014 Koenigsegg Agera and 2003 Ferrari Enzo that had not met the national and state standards required to be legally registered in California. Charges include four charges of conspiracy and three counts of accepting a bribe in connection with a scheme.
